CSSL manages the independent degree accreditation process for the IT sector, accepting and endorsing degree programs that have good entry points into the industry and promoting international certification portability. CSSL approved degree programs provide students with the assurance that their degree is market-relevant and valuable to the IT industry.
CSSL only accredits degrees and does not grant any degrees. For more information on a specific degree program, please contact the tertiary institution directly.
Accreditation has been granted to the following degree programs. All approved programs are professional-level accreditation and Level 6 of the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF) and are only accredited when delivered on the designated University’s premises.
On the recommendation made by the CSSL Accreditation Board, CSSL accepted the following degree programmes of the Faculty of Computing of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) have been considered for granting full accreditation for a period of five (5) years.
- Bachelor of Science Honors in Information Technology Specializing in Information Technology – BSc IT(Hons) in IT
- Bachelor of Science Honors in Information Technology Specializing in Software Engineering – BSc IT(Hons) in SE
- Bachelor of Science Honors in Information Technology Specializing in Computer Systems and Network Engineering – BSc IT(Hons) in CSNE
- Bachelor of Science Honors in Information Technology Specializing in Information Systems Engineering – BSc IT(Hons) in ISE
On its 740th Council Meeting held on 17th June 2020, the Computer Society of Sri Lanka resolved that the above degree programmes have been accredited from the February 2019 intake for intakes up to 31st January 2024 provided that the degree is completed by 31st January 2028.
It is resolved that CSSL also grants full accreditation for the intakes from February 2017 to 2019, as the Evaluation Panel is satisfied that these intakes also satisfy the accreditation criteria of the CSSL.
It is necessary that SLIIT starts action to renew this accreditation a year before it expires, which is 31st January 2024.
The following degree programs offered by the Faculty of Computing at the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) have been accepted for full accreditation for a period of five (5) years by the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) on the recommendation of the CSSLAB, a provisional member of the Seoul Accord.
- Bachelor of Science specializing in Computer Science – B.Sc. Hons (Computer Science)
- Bachelor of Science specializing in Information Technology – B.Sc. Hons (Information Technology)
- Bachelor of Science specializing in Information Systems – B.Sc. Hons (Information Systems)
On its 797 Council Meeting held on 20th July 2022, the Computer Society of Sri Lanka resolved that the above degree programmes have been accredited from the January 2022 (intake 39) intake for intakes up to 31st December 2026 (intake 43) provided that the degree is completed by 31st December 2030.
It is resolved that the Computer Society of Sri Lanka also grants full accreditation for the intakes from January 2020 (Intake 37) to January 2021 (intake 38), as the Evaluation Panel is satisfied that these intakes also satisfy the accreditation criteria of the CSSL.
It is necessary that KDU starts action to renew this accreditation a year before it expires, which is 31st December 2026.
