Membership Terms & Conditions

Member (MCS)-
Graduate or a higher degree (holder in ICT with 4 years of professional experience; Or  Graduate in a field other than ICT and 5 years professional experience; Or Associate Member of CSSL and 3 years post qualifying professional experience;
Or Non-Graduate who has undergone adequate training in ICT and 8 years experience;

AND that at the time of membership application he/she is actively engaged in a professional capacity in the use and application of ICT and the techniques related thereto. The applicant should satisfy the Council that the experience referred to above is at a professional level.

Associate-
Graduate or and higher degree (or equivalent professional qualification) holder in ICT or Graduate in a field other than ICT and 1 year professional experience Non-Graduate who has undergone adequate training in ICT and 4 years experience;

AND that at the time of membership application he/she is actively engaged in a professional capacity in the use and application of ICT and the techniques related thereto. The applicant should satisfy the Council that the experience referred to above is at a professional level.

Student-
General Certificate of Education Advance Level Examination conducted by the Government  of  Sri Lanka with pass in one subject; Or General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level Examination conducted by the Government of Sri Lanka with passes in six subject where one of the subject should be either Arithmetic or Mathematics and three of the passes should be credit passes.

Affiliate-
This grade is for applicants who have an interest in computing, and are not yet eligible or do not wish to become professional members.

Corporate-
This grade is for Corporations and firms whose primary object is connected ICT.

Acceptable Professional experience:
Coding, implementation and maintenance of computer programs; Systems analysis and design; Database design and Administration; Network design and communication technology;  Information systems strategic planning;  Evaluation of information technologies;  Systems programming;  Hardware engineering and maintenance;  Information technology research and development;  Standards development; Software quality assurance;  Auditing of IT systems;  Design of safety critical systems;  Network management;  IT systems security;  Pre and post sales technical support;  Design and implementation of computer-based training material;  Professional training, Supervision and management of any of the above
