19th NSSC 2008

SEARCC training will commence this Saturday 5th July at 9. Pl inform them the following

1. Training will be conducted on both days Saturdays and Sundays from 9.00 to 3.30 from 5th July to 6th September.

2. Training will be conducted at the BICT laboratory at UCSC, 25, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7.

3. First three winners of NSSC will be selected to be sent to SEARCC and an additional 3 members will be selected for a second team to be sent to Chennai, India at the end of training. The second team selection will be carried out using a test, the progress of daily activities during training and attendance will be considered in making the selections of the second team.

4. Students are expected to make their own arrangements for food and traveling

5. Students should bring a form of identification (Postal ID, National ID or passport etc) to be produced at the University Entrance.

19th National Schools’ Software Competition(NSSC) 2008

Young Talent Search in Computer Programming –
Selection Of Teams To Represent Sri Lanka at South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation ( SEARCC) International Schools’ Software Competition – India 2008.

The Computer Society of Sri Lanka is conducting the National level School Students Software competition for the 19th consecutive year. The winners will represent the country in the International software competitions as per details given below.

Eligibility :

It is a team based competition. Each team will consist of upto 3 students. All team members of school teams must be full-time students under 17 years of age, i.e. born on or after 1st January 1991.

A school can register one team only.

Format:

The competition will be of two (2) hours duration, consisting of 4 problems using Pascal, C,  C + + or Java  Programming Languages   

National level Final Competition will be held in Colombo in June 2008.

Prizes:  First Prize: A Trophy, Certificates and Cash Price
  Second Prize: Certificates with a Cash Price
  Third Price:  Certificates with a Cash Price

Participation in SEARCC International Competitions: The winners at the National level will represent Sri Lanka at the SEARCC International Schools’ Software Competition 2008  to be held in India in September. Rules and Regulations of SEARCC-2008 Competition will be same for NSSC and are at the web site www.cssl.lk

Individual winners of the NSSC will be selected to team. The team will be provided with the airfare, hotel accommodation and entry SEARCC event held in India.
