About
Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) believes that the future of Information Technology lies in the eager and willing hands of the young. They have dreams, hopefully much larger dreams,and it is in the next millennium that they would carry the torch forward. Therefore, it is our duty to give them an opportunity to learn the new developments in Information Technology to meet the challenges of the next millennium.
Computer Society of Sri Lanka is conducting the National level School Students Software competition for the 21st consecutive year.In the year 2009, the CSSL conducted this competition in collaboration with the Ministry of Education as an official formal national event named “National Level School ICT Championship” under the circular no: 2009/19 dated 2009-06-01 issued by the Secretary, Ministry of Education. For the year 2010 also the CSSL is conducting the competition in collaboration with the Ministry of Eduction- under the same guidelines.
Objective
To bring out problem solving and programming talents, in school students, with speed, accuracy and team co-ordination. In a competitive environment, both at national and international levels, it would motivate them with due recognition, besides winning awards of attractive prizes and certificates.
Target Group
The competition is open to all schools in the island.
Each school can send only one team per category comprising of up to 3 Students in a team.
Eligibility
Category 1 :
Sri Lankan school children under 17 years of age as on 1st January 2010. (Who were born on or after 1st January 1993.)
Category 2 :
Sri Lankan school children 17 years or over but under 19 years of age as on 1st January 2010. (Who were born between 1st January 1993 and 1st January 1995).
Format
Level 1 – Paper based (written) test in regions
Level 2 – Online test at UCSC Colombo
The competition will be of two (2) hours duration, consisting of 4 problems using C, C++, C#, VB.NET or Java languages. It is to test the problem solving ability using a computer programming language.
